• Low Profile Car Trailer Loading Ramps Image

Is your trailer door too steep to get your car to the track or autocross? Are you tired of hauling around heavy, unsafe boards to use as a makeshift ramp extension? Race Ramps has the solution for you: simply place your trailer door on the notch of our specially-designed Trailer Ramps and decrease your angle of approach to as little as 4.3 degrees.

These hassle-free, lightweight ramps are ideal for low-ground-clearance cars with extra-wide tires. Numerous size options are available in our one- and two-piece designs, with and without flap cut-outs. Use our ramp calculator above to determine which Trailer Ramps will work best for your car and trailer, and let us know if you have any questions. We are happy to make a custom set if our standard options don’t work – just give us a call!

Trailer Ramps are 100% solid, made with a high-density expanded polystyrene that is coated with a hybrid polyuria—creating a textured, “unscootable” surface. This patented process results in a product that is extremely lightweight, yet strong and durable. The ramps will not slide, scratch, or otherwise damage any floor type and can hold up to 1,500 lbs. per ramp for a total vehicle weight capacity of 6,000 lbs.

  • Step 1: Your Trailer

Both enclosed and open trailers work with our Trailer Ramps. If your stock trailer ramps have an additional fold down ramp/flap, you can fold it up, remove it, or purchase a ramp that has a flap cut-out built into the ramp (check the appropriate box below).

    1

Measure from the ground to the top of your current trailer door/ramp at the hinge point.

    2

Measure from the ground to the top of your current trailer door/ramp at the hinge point.

    3

Measure the thickness of your trailer door/ramp.

    Step 2: Your Car

    4

To determine the best angle of approach for your vehicle, we have devised the “yardstick test” below. If you do not have a yardstick, carefully measure out 36″ with a tape measure or other straight, rigid object. You may need two sets of hands to get an accurate measurement here.

    YARDSTICK TEST

    1. Place a yardstick/tape measure at the base of your front wheel.
    2. Raise up the yardstick or tape measure until it hits the underside of your car (the spoiler).
    3. Measure vertically from the ground to the end of the yardstick or 36″ point on the tape measure. Record that height here (in inches).

Needed a long flat approach to get my road race car into the trailer without tearing the nose up. Bought a set of the RR-TR5 ramps. These replaced an old set of pit pal aluminum ramps. Longer and gentle slope makes loading easy as it should be. The new ramps are super light and easy to handle. Great product!

I’m a person with a disability who bought a toyhauler to use for camping. After having the back ramp door powered, and using a manual wheelchair, I found your product and use two of your portable ramps to make the slope of the back ramp door less steep. I’m now able to access the trailer with the back door ramp system my accessible path of travel. And those two ramps are so light that i, a 73 year old in a wheelchair, can carry and put them in place, myself. Thanks!!!

Bought these ramps to get my low clearance track car up on my open aluminum trailer as easily as possible. Previously, I used 2×12 as ramps and it was a pain getting the car up on the trailer with these wood planks. Tried a few different things to try to make the 2×12 work as I would want them to work but it was not getting better. And then there’s the weight issue too. Wood planks used as ramps aren’t light, especially when they soaked from a rainfall.

I bought these to use in conjunction with the aluminum ramps that came with my four-post lift. I originally tried making ramps out of wood, but ended up scraping that idea since they would be too heavy and cumbersome to move and setup on a regular basis. These are incredibly lightweight. Also, since my low profile jack isn’t long enough I use them as drive-ups ramps to raise the front of the car high enough to reach the center front jack point.

I use these help loading lower vehicles onto an aluminum tilt trailer. Even with the deck tilted back, the approach angle of the trailer alone is too steep for some of my vehicles. These ramps are light weight, easy to handle and work excellent. They are plenty rugged for my use, and show only surface wear after 60+ loads and unloads this season.

The core material is a foam product, and the outside is covered in something similar to Line-X truck bed liner. The reason I mention this is that it should be know these cannot be used as loading ramps unless they are laying flat on the ground (IE you cannot run from the bed of a pickup to the ground with these).

And you can’t get the track car off the trailer without them, either, so make sure you load them before heading off to burn some gas, tires, and oil.

I bought a Down To Earth hydraulic tilt trailer thinking it would eliminate the need for ramps. Er, no. With most lowered track cars, something is going to scrape loading and unloading, and my ancient 911 is no exception. Front spoiler was taking a real beating, so I spent a goodly sum on these 8″ Race Ramps. Worth every penny, as they are so light that my pit crew can move them around for me without damaging her fingernails. We all know how important that is.

Now if I could just get her to show up on time……….

Really worth it makes loading and unloading any vehicle with ease. Even with a low air dam no scraping.

Very nice quality. Easy to move around and carry in truck. I used these to get 1991 Camaro loaded on the trailer. Normally it takes several long boards to load my car on trailer and I still scrape the front. Thanks Race Ramps for building quality ramps!

Perfect extensions to get a low clearance sports car into my trailer which only came with short 6ft ramps. Well made and finished, lightweight and really strong. They don’t slide, even on smooth shiny surfaces. Stack neatly together for storage. Only proviso is that the underneath contact surfaces are solid continuous, so the ground needs to evenly flat and you should check first on grass and gravel areas.

  10. Rated 5 out of 5

If your trailer has a fold down door extension, then these are the ramps to use. I can finally drive my 2002 Camaro SS into the trailer without scrapping the floor or the cars air dam when I take it road racing. The ramps are a little large to store, but a simple rack and your done. No more messing with blocks and jacking up the front of the trailer.

  11. Rated 4 out of 5

I used to load my race car using lots of heavy wood to make up for the short built in ramps on the rear trailer door. These ramps had the perfect length and rise to match up and make loading a breeze. And they are really light and easy to move around. Many lengths and rises available, so make sure you you think it through and do the math (or rather, the geometry) to make sure you have the right match. The only reason it didn’t get a 5 is the cost. Pretty expensive. Still, I would do it again for the convenience.

  12. Rated 5 out of 5

Perfectly engineered and light weight. My trailer ramps fit right into the notches on the ramp. They don’t slide or move around and the low gentle rise of the ramps allows me to load my car on the trailer with the nose and splitter installed. (before I had to remove to load)
